Identification:
It has been suggested (Mazor 2008:1634) that the site be identified with the Chapel of Thomas the Apostle mentioned by Cyril of Scythopolis, located on the road to Caesarea. However, Cyril does not mention a monastery, only an "apostolic shrine of Saint Thomas (V. Sab. 61, 75). But this church should rather be identified with the remains uncovered at Tell Tumas.
