Discussion:
The caves in Wadi Burka are located about 1 km from the site of the monastery at Wadi Shiban. Nearby is another monastery (Wadi el 'Ein). The caves show clear signs of human habitation that are similar to those of other caves used by hermits dated by the pottery found in the vicinity to the fifth-seventh century (Zisu et al. in press). It is not clear if the two cells are directly associated with either of the monasteries nearby, or if the hermits using them were not part of the monastic communities.
