234-235, no. 2, fig. 10 (ph.) (ed. pr.) |
Incised on a marble slab, discovered not in situ, but belonging to the marble pavement of the church. "It is impossible to define exactly when and where this stone pavement was laid" (Fabian–Ustinova).
Six-line inscription set within an oval medallion incised on a marble slab, broken into several fragments but almost entirely complete. The fine and evenly spaced characters (average height 2.5 cm) are arranged in horizontal lines. The first two lines feature oval E, whereas in the following lines both E and Σ are square.

Under Stephanos, the most pious oikonomos, this work was also done. (Ustinova)
Building inscription of Stephanus incised on a slab originally belonging to the marble pavement of the church.
The mention of Stephanos the oikonomos and the emphasis "this work was also done" indicates that the stone pavement was probably installed after the completion of the mosaic floor (Fabian–Ustinova).
