Location: 

Findspot: Mader 1929, p.123, only states that "on five different visits to the lonely tell (i.e. of Khirbet el-Merd) I made various little discoveries", one of which is the sundial (so CIIP). However, Mader 1937, p. 56, gives the sundial under the "Skulpturstücke" he has found in the burial-cave with the painted frescos.

Physical description : 

Sundial, "concavely worked into a square limestone-block in the form of a quarter-globe of 38 cm in breadth and 30 cm in height. Its ten radial meridians are marked by Greek figures. An engraved cross under the dial of the height of 12 cm [Mader 1937: "0,14 m hoch"] with the arms branching towards the outside." (Mader 1929)
