Translation:

Came to rest the thrice-blessed Stephen, (son) of John the vicarius, on the fifth (day) of the month of Apellaios of the 5th indiction, year 541.

Apparatus:

L.1 ἀνεπά⟨η⟩ ⟨ὁ⟩ phonetic spelling;  l.6 πέμ⟨π⟩τ⟨ῃ⟩ assimilation and iotacism.

Commentary:

In the Arabian calendar Apellaios began on 17 November; thus the date corresponds to 21 November 646, after the beginning of the 5th indiction. John the vicarius is also mentioned in Inscriptions nos. 10, dated (probably) 607, and no. 11, dated 612; at that time he was active in his office, whereas in the present inscriptions he had probably been long dead, since his son might have lived to old age.
