Paragraph:
6
Translation:
<After having visited the holy city and the anchorites in the desert, Euthymius finally settled in Pharan.> … He came to the laura of Pharan, that is located at a distance of six miles from the holy city, and, being a lover of silence, he took his abode in a solitary cell outside the laura, keeping no worldly possession at all. Yet he learnt to manufacture rope, in order ‘that he might not burden anybody’ <1 Thess. 2:9> and could, on the contrary, give a share of the fruits of his toil to the needy.
