Paragraph:
25
Translation:
In the same year <an uncertain year between 431 and 451> a drought oppressed the earth. The blessed Theoctistus and the fathers of Euthymius’ laura were in great distress, for the cisterns (of the two monasteries) had not received any water … <The monks and the villagers from the nearby villages beg Euthymius to pray for rain. Following the holy man’s prayer a heavy storm pours down: on account of the furious rain Euthymius is forced to put off his customary going out into the desert, on January 14.>
