Paragraph:
31
Translation:
In the 82nd year of great Euthymius’ life <to be corrected: ‘in the 80th year’: spring 457> came to him blessed Sabas. asking to remain in his laura. Great Euthymius accepted him for a short time and entrusted him to his own disciple Domitian; but later he summoned Sabas and said to him: “My son, it is not right that you, being so young, stay in a !aura: for young men it is better to be in a coenobium”. For great Euthymius was very careful never to receive a beardless man in his laura, on account of the works of the Evil one. So he sent Sabas to the blessed Theoctistus, accompanied by one of the fathers, through whom he sent word to Theoctistus to receive the youth and give heed to him.
