Findspot: Above the burial cave, in the north wing of the monastery.

Pres. loc.: In situ, but partly destroyed and badly restored.

Physical description : 

Five-line mosaic inscription framed by a tabula ansata measuring 225 x 112 cm. The first four lines are partly ruined and the last line almost completely destroyed, but the text can be restored. The letters are ca. 10 cm high. They are less caligraphic than those of inscriptions 2 and 3. The text begins with a palm leaf.

(palm leaf) Μνή[σθητι Κ(ύρι)ε ἐν] τῇ βασιλείᾳ σου

Ἐλ[πιδίου Ἰωάννου] Γεωργίου

τῶ[ν πρεσβ(υτέρων) καὶ τ]ῶν λοιπῶν πρ(εσβυτέρ)ων

τῶ[ν ἐνθαῦ]τα κειμένων

ὧν [γινώσκεις τὰ ὀνόματα.]

Translation: 

Lord, remember in your kingdom Elpidius, John, (and) George the priests, and the other priests who rest here, whose names you know.

Apparatus: 

L.3 π(ατέ)ρων, Feissel (BE);  l.4 τῶ[ν ὧδε κα]τακειμένων Feissel (BE).

Commentary: 

Ligatures of ΟΥ. The phrase "Lord, remember in your kingdom" is reminiscent of Luke 23:42. The three priests are mentioned in inscription 7. They must have played an important role in the direction of the massive works carried out under Genesius.
