Summary:
Free rendering of I Cor. on the floor before a burial recess, probably the tomb of the monastery's founder.
Citations from LXX / NT:
I Cor. 15:52-53
This is a free rendering of I Corinthians 15:52-53 in which the order of the verses was changed and the sentence "we shall be changed" was omitted. This was probably done to avoid an Origenistic interpretation of Paul's words. The Origenist controversy came to Palestine at the beginning of the 6th century but was most bitter between 532 and 555. The use of the square alphabet in the inscription points to the earlier part of this century.
