Mosaic inscription written across two separate square panels, six lines each, on both sides of another square decorative panel.

Text: 

         (palm branch) Ἀρχιποιμὴν ἐκ

         Θ(εο)ῦ γέγονεν ἡ̣[μῖ]ν̣

         Μακαιδόν̣[ιος ὁ ὁ-]

4       σιώτ(ατος) ἐπίσ̣[κοπος],

         ὅθεν ἐπ’ α̣[ὐτοῦ]

         ναοί άν[εγείρονται]



         καὶ λαμπροίνο(ν)-

         ται καὶ οἱ ἅγιοι

         κοσμοῦνται καὶ

4       ὁ λαὸς ἁγάλλετ(αι)

         διαμεῖναι τῇ

         ἀγέλῃ αὐτοῦ.

Translation: 

By God has become our chief-shepherd Makaid[onios] the pious bishop, so that in [his] time churches are e[rected] and are graced and the saints are adorned and the people rejoice dwelling in its flock. (Tzaferis)

Commentary: 

L.1. ἀρχιποιμήν: surprising epithet, not epigraphically attested, for a non-metropolitan bishop. (Feissel)
