In the mosaic pavement at the passage from the central nave of the basilica (Locus 5) to the central carpet of the diaconicon (Locus 8).

Physical description : 

Five-line mosaic inscription of red tesserae on white backgroung. A border is only indicated by the orientation of the tesserae.

Meas.: letters 8 cm.

Text: 

         Ὑπὲρ ἀναπαύσε-

         ως. Ἱλαρίων ANA+[--]

         TOY ἐν μενὶ Ξανθικ-

4       οῦ ἓξ καὶ δεκάτου

         τοῦ ηπφʹ ἔτους.

Translation: 

On behalf of the rest. Hilarion ... (died) on Xanthikos 16th, year 588. (CIIP)

Apparatus: 

Ll.2-3: ἀνα[γνώσ]|του Saliou, SEG,  but Koßmann apud CIIP notes that there is not enough space for these letters.

Commentary: 

16th of Xanthikos, year 588 (era of Gaza) = 6 April 528 AD.
