In the mosaic carpet of the nave of the basilica (Locus 4).
Two-line (?) mosaic inscription. Letters in blue tesserae. Above the first line, there seem to be some ornaments. Of the second line only a horizontal bar can be seen, marking either another nomen sacrum or a number.
Meas.: letters 7.6 cm.
[--]+Σ Χ(ριστὸ)ς βοήθι +[--]
[--]++++++[--]
... Christ, help ... (?)
The letter before Σ may be either Υ or X; both letters had a line above them to indicate an abbreviation; Saliou thinks of [Ἰ(ησοῦ)ς] Χ̣(ριστὸ)ς Χ(ριστὸ)ς βοηθία, or [Ἰησο]ῦ̣ς Χ(ριστὸ)ς with a wrongly placed abbreviation mark. – The last letter is Α, Δ or Λ, for which Saliou suggests βοήθι δ[ούλῳ].
Fragment of a two-line inscription with an invocation of Christ, in the mosaic carpet of the nave of the basilica.
