Jerusalem (Mt. Sion) - HOLY SION

Paragraph:
E
Translation:

And in the church called Holy Sion is the Throne of James, the Lord's brother, who is buried near the Temple. It has been built in the place where after his passion the Lord appeared to the disciples as they were at supper, "the doors being shut" <John 20:19, 26>. Near there is the door by which the angel led Peter out. And of the Temple which Solomon built there have survived two pinnacles: one, much the higher, is where the Lord was tempted by the Devil <cf. Matt. 4:5>. But the rest of the Temple has been destroyed. The Temple had been built on the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite <cf. II Sam. 24:18>. Near its gate was shed the blood of Zacharias the son of Barachias.
