<Account of famous monks in Egypt and Palestine in the second half of the 4th c.> Besides I believe that Silvanus, who they say was seen being served by angels on account of his great virtue, was a Palestinian who at that time used to practice the ascetic life in Egypt. Later he spent a short time on Mount Sinai, afterwards he established the great and famous community (synoikia) of many good men in Gerara in the wadi, which after him was led by the divine Zacharias.
