Summary:
Confused mention of the monastery of holy Theodosius in the area of Bethlehem, from an 8th cent. guidebook for pilgrims.
Although Deir Dosi actually lies to the north-east of Bethlehem, the text confusedly locates it some miles to its south, together with the ghost monastery of St Dionysius, just as it earlier locates Sabas’s monastery “to the south of Bethlehem” together with Chariton’s Old Laura, though in actuality Mar Saba lies to the east of Bethlehem about the same latitude.
