When the Persians invaded (the country) and surrounded the holy city, then both the brothers of the coenobium (of Choziba) and the cell-dwellers went away: some of them fled to Arabia with the hegumen, some went (into hiding) in the caves, some hid in the Calamon (area). The holy man was among them, for, after many entreaties on the brothers’ part, he came out of his cell and went into hiding with them...
