Deir Mar Jirys - CHOZIBA

Paragraph:
IV, 7
Translation:

At the same period as Zosimus <the first quarter of the sixth century> flourished a man called John, equal (to Zosimus) in virtues, who practised the solitary and unworldly life in the monastic community of Choziba – this is situated at the bottom of the canyon on the northern side of the road that leads travellers from Jerusalem to Jericho. Later he became bishop of Caesarea.
