El-Burj - ZANNUS

Paragraph:
42
Translation:

In the Great Laura there were two brothers in the flesh, also truly brothers in their disposition towards God. They came from the area of Hebron, were called Zannus and Benjamin, and were rich in the virtues that please God. Together they asked the hallowed Sabas to give them the hemitage that he had built for himself at a distance of about 15 stadia from the Laura to the west. The great Elders knowing them for strenuous workers of God, yielded to their petition and gave them the cell. So they settled there, keeping both the hermitage itself and their own cell in the laura. Then (the two brothers) toiling and labouring in that hermitage, set it up as a coenobium, with the help of our holy father Sabas, who provided them with the supplies and all the other services (they needed). Some brothers having gathered there, (Sabas) took care of building the church, consecrated it, and also laid down for them the same rule he had given to his other coenobia. By the grace of God this coenobium flourishes to this day and has taken the name of the blessed Zannus.
