Khirbet el-Makhrum - THEOGNIUS

Paragraph:
10
Translation:

Some time having elapsed, following the suggestion of certain people, the man who then occupied the patriarchal throne of Jerusalem forcibly compelled (Theognius) to let himself be ordained bishop of the church of Bitylion: this is a small town, at a distance of 90 miles from our monastery. So (Theognius) would spend some time in that town, and sometimes he would come and stay lovingly with his own children. By then this church had already been built, at first small, for a while, but finally enlarged about ten years before the holy man’s death, for also the number of the pious monks by that time had grown, by the will of God. But very small is the cell where the blessed one used to reside when, from time to time, he came from Bitylion; and it is so low, that when you enter it if you do not take care, you will knock your head against the ceiling …
