Translation: 

At the place where the Lord was baptised, there is a marble column, and on this column is set an iron cross. There also is the church of Saint John the Baptist, which was built by the Emperor Anastasius. This church is built high up over great vaults, because of the Jordan which is sometimes in flood. In this church reside monks, who receive a livelihood of six solidi each per year from the Imperial Treasury.
