Abba Leontius from the coenobium of our holy father Theodosius told us this story: “After the expulsion of the Neolaurites from the New Laura, I went to settle there. Now, one Sunday I came down (from my cell) and went into the church to take Communion; and when I entered, I saw an angel standing at the right side of the altar. I was overcome and withdrew to my cell, and a voice reached me, saying: since the moment when this altar was consecrated, I have been entrusted with standing guard over it”.
