A third room was annexed to the chapel farther west, next to the western end of the chapel. 1
11974 Khirbet Aristobulias Church Judean Hills Three units annex. The middle one might had served as a prothesis chapel; the western one - a baptistery (see below). Quadrangular chapel The middle room of the southern annex, which was the largest of the three, (approx. 9 X 4.6 m), apparently served as a prothesis chapel. It was paved by a mosaic floor with geometric patterns. The entrance to the chapel from the southern aisle was located near the northeast corner of the room. East of the central room there was another one, of a smaller dimensions (approx. 2.6 X 4.7 m), seemingly a sacristy. Simple rectangular room The baptistery is located in the western room (4.6 X 4.1 m) of the southern annex. This room was not excavated but a sounding brought to light a decorated stone basin that was apparently the baptismal font. 1

The room was entered from the southern aisle. It was paved with a crude mosaic floor, like that of the pastophoria. Apparently it served as a diakonikon. Trapezoidal room An opening in the northern wall of the narthex led to a burial chamber that held three burial troughs (the third is a later addition). It was roofed by a vault and held 8 burials. 1
12645 Khirbet Beit Tafa Church Southern Coastal Plain 1
14665 Khirbet Beit ‘Awwa El Kenîseh (Central) Judean Hills A baptismal font quatrefoil on the outside and the inside was adjoining the church. The font had inner steps which leaded to the rectangular basin from all four sides (1.52x1.47x0.74 m). By the classification of Ben Pechat, it is mostly close to the type 4a, though the arms of the font are not rectangular, but quatrefoil, what makes the significant difference from the plain cross. It is a new font type. Since the font was found adjoining the church, the baptistery was annexed, but it is not said on what side. 1

12342 Khirbet Deiry (Nes Harim) Church Judean Hills Quadrangular chapel In the second phase a chapel was added to the church on the south. The chapel was 4 m wide and paved with a mosaic floor with geometric and floral motifs. The eastern part of the chapel was separated from the rest of it by a chancel screen. A Greek inscription in Tabula Ansata, dated to 602/3 or 617/18 was discovered in the mosaic floor of the chapel. 1
13143 Khirbet ed Deir Church Judean Desert A diakonikon room with a rock-cut apse was annexed to the S. Simple rectangular room The baptistery - a quadrangular room (3.5 x 9 m, external measurements) was located to the east of the cave-church. It was constructed adjacent to the cliff face, its entrance facing the church. The chamber was paved with a simple patterned mosaic. A small depression in the southwestern corner served as a sump and a small depression where a pitcher was kept was found nearby. The baptismal font (0.7 x 1.09, 0.6 m deep) built to the north of the entrance, was masonry constructed, its inner surface plastered. A single cistern served the church and the baptistery. Apsidal chapel 1. An apsidal burial chapel for priests and deacons was installed to the SE of the church, outside the gatehouse. The chapel was lavishly decorated with a mosaic floor. 2. A small burial chamber is located beyond the western wall of the church. A small vestibule paved with a mosaic featuring two crosses and an inscription relating to the resurrection is leading in. The opening to the chamber was carefully constructed, holding a stone(?) door. The interior of the chamber, partially rock-cut, measures 2 x 2.8 m. A rock bench about 2 m long, 0.7 m wide and 0.5 m high was installed in it. seemingly the founding abbot of the monastery was buried there. 1
