The existence of the synthronon is indicated by rectangular sockets on the limestone paving slabs of the apse. The graded benches of the synthronon were apparently made of wood, since the remains of Lebanese cedar and a large number of nails were found in the vicinity of the apse. |
N & S |
The northern pastophorium measures 4 X 3.1 m. The floor is completely destroyed, probably by the Ottoman activity at the site. The room was lockable, since the northern doorpost stones survived in place. |
The southern pastophorium (called by the excavator "diaconicon") measures 3.35 X 3.1 m. The entrance to this room is 1.25 m wide. The room is paved with colored mosaic floor with floral and geometric patterns. |

The baptismal font is located at the center of the bema of the baptismal chapel annexed to the basilica from north. The font structure was changed during the time. At the beginning it was horseshoe shaped both from exterior and interior (type 3a). It was built of cement and small stones and faced with marble. Later on, a monolithic font, octagonal on the outside (0.85 m in diameter) and circular on the inside (0.65 m in diameter) (type 7c), was placed inside the original font. The height of the font in both periods was about 0.4 m above the floor. |

The northern pastophorium was an open rectangular room, measuring 1.5 X 2.2 m. At its eastern wall was installed a semicircular niche. It was open to the aisle by an arch resting on pilasters. |
The southern pastophorium, similar in shape, measured 1.5 X 1.9 m. |

An empty tomb was found in a room north of the atrium (marked E). Dimensions: 1.9 m. long, 0.58 m. wide and approx. 0.35 m. deep. Cut into bed rock with flagstones lining the sides. The tomb is contemporary with the room and possibly had a special status. Six trance graves cut into bedrock, four adults and two children, according to their orientation, facing south; they belong to the Islamic periods. |

The synthronon is indicated by a well paved semicircle against the apse wall. This bore a wooden bench whose back supports were driven into holes in the wall 1.1 m above the pavement. In the middle of the synthronon is the base for the bishop's throne. It consisted of five steps raising to a height of 0.9 m. |
